Meet Abaigeal, the new kid on the scene. Abaigeal has just moved into the country with her mother Ms. Whinklebee. Her only piece of wardrobe consist of an old homemade dress, this makes it even harder to fit in with everyone else. Her adversaries are Callaway and the crew which includes blabber mouth Gertrude Engels and cool guy Stanley Hinkler. The crew are very adamant at making her life at school miserable. In a desperate attempt to gain friendship Abaigeal surrenders a Rinkey Jr. baseball card to Callaway but he shreds it into pieces in front of everyone and laughs in her face. Besides being taunted she's very poor and cannot afford much including the new "Laced Spice" shoes. Pretty soon the crew devises a plot to get rid of Abaigeal once and for all. Hurt and lonely she finds herself in a world of trouble. In the midst of it all, the guardian angels have had enough and sends their youngest angel, Molly to the scenery. The emotions of Abaigeal are within these pages as she tells her story and sings with all of her might wishing that everything would be okay. Short songs have been written in the dialogue.
