This book takes you on a journey into the thinking and thought process in the creation of the author's own work. Educational and informative for anyone who has had the urge to write, the author relates through his own experience what influenced and inspired him to write. This is a collection of original work in the form of poems, prose and songs written for pure entertainment and inspirational value. Influenced by poets and authors from Shakespeare to T. S. Eliot and song writers like Kris Krisofferson and Tom T. Hall the author hopes the reader will find by example the inspiration to create and the enjoyment that goes with being a writer! This book can be read for the simple pleasure of easy reading or used as a teaching tool for young aspiring authors. The author includes narrative prior to most compositions that introduces the writing with insight into the inspiration which culminated in the result. If you like poetry, descriptive writing or would like to try to write words for a song this is a great starter book! Though not overly technical in detail, the author demonstrates how structure and poetic license can be married in form. Using internal rhyme, alliteration, repetition, and other tools often used by the great writers, Frost, Poe, E. E. Cummings, Shakespeare and others Mr. Roaf allows us to glimpse the soul of a poet at heart and write for the pure joy of words. The result is easy reading for an afternoon or in small sessions to absorb the emotional content of each piece.
