This is a story of Jim Edwards, an ordinary man, an oilfield worker who uncovers an alien creature trapped under a hillside who then thanks Jim by touching him, leaving Jim with a new perspective and a lot of alien thoughts. A few months later an alien shows up and tries to kill him followed by another alien who looks like the devil but wants Jim to join him as a Guardian for the Alliance. Hurriedly taught the basics of space travel and Alliance rules, just like the way we do things on Earth, Jim is then given his own spaceship that has a mind and an attitude all its' own. They agree on his name, Merlin, and together they head out into the universe. Follow them as they import to the Alliance the American way to handle situations and solve problems. Join them as they save lives, kill the bad guys and well, you know.
