This work offers the complete French text and a translation into English in which both rhyme and meter have been retained (the Latin poem has been left in that language.) The sequence of the poems was taken from the edition published in 1948 by the Club fran(c) ais du livre.; The translator of this edition Robert Scholten is Professor Emeritus of Petroleum Geology in the Department of Geosciences at the Pennsylvania State University. Scholten, a native of the Netherlands, studied at the University of Amsterdam and completed advanced work at the University of Michigan. He served on the Penn State faculty from 1951 until his retirement in 1985. Scholten lives in Boalsburg, Pa. and Paris, France.; Parallel text in French and English."
