This book is written for middle elementary grades, 3rd through 5th. It is a fantasy involving three children ages 8, 10 and twelve, one girl and two boys, who are given the task of finding a magical Native American blanket called the Blanket of Time. They are direct descendants of the original weavers of the blanket. In the process of finding this ancient relic they realize that they can change shapes. The oldest boy, Steven, can turn into a hawk, the youngest boy, Sammy, becomes a ferret and the girl, Katie holds a mountain lion in her heart. These abilities help them to find the blanket and save it from the black, sooty worm-like beings that have been pursuing it for years. These beings eat time and if they succeed all time will end. Their grandmother, whose mother was a weaver, helps them in their task. Finally the blanket is safely returned to a cave in the red cliffs of the continental divide in New Mexico. Time and the world are saved.
