Amber faces the everyday challenges of high school life like any other teenage girl. Her room is decorated with posters, her cell phone never stops ringing, and she just can't seem to stay awake in class. But Amber isn't alone; she's guided by three very different opinions that all give her conflicting advice. As she tries to pass Mr. Marsden's history class and catch the eye of school heartthrob Ray Beretta, Amber finds herself in situations for which she's unprepared.

Battling the envy of every girl in school and her own moral standards, Amber must find a balance between popularity and remaining someone she can happily see reflected back in the mirror. With the ever-looming, challenging past of her mother in the back of her mind, Amber seeks out love and acceptance, all the while trying to learn how to appreciate the simple things in life, like listening for the rain.
