She writes about the time when her mother gets "lost" and leaves her alone and hungry. Gamez describes her mom's boyfriend's attempts to touch her when they came to visit her home. She learns to have deep conversations with God and plea for His guidance and assistance. Gamez expresses her love for her deceased husband, children, and above all God. One whole and common theme told throughout the book is that of her faith in God and love for all her loved ones.
