As Moira grapples to forge a new life for herself and her two teenage children after the sudden death of her husband insidious revelations tear at the fabric of her conventional, middleclass life. Life was not at all as she thought it was - her perfect past didn't exist. Lacking any qualifications she is forced to earn her living. All she can do is cook, clean and look after a family - she quite readily admits she is not what is now considered a modern woman. Cooking is the only real option, and full of self-doubt she starts up a catering business where she faces challenges and makes unexpected friendships. And it is the least expected person who most helps Moira to reinterpret her past and accept the future.
