"Beauty Shop - Philly Style" gathers a collection of characters who interactions nearly revolve around a hair salon in an urban area. Take into account the types of challenges a person might face in a sometimes-uncertain modern society, paying special attention to processes normally involved with relationships. In a series of twists and turns, the story highlights qualities relating to loyalty, identity, and love in various forms. As "a white girl who talks and acts like she''s black," Bonquisha decides "to be her own woman" even though "she comes from a wealthy family." Generally viewed as "the best hairdresser at the shop," she heads in with a few others after speaking with her mother and sister, apparently a little concerned about her "working in the hood." The possibility of robbery leads the police to make a call, Pam recognizes Reggie as "a blast from the past." While Pudding confronts her feeling about her son''s disclosure, Pam leaves the shop, and Reggie shows some interest in Babs. Sissy leaves the shop to return home and walks in on her boyfriend''s secret life style. Meanwhile Twain thinks about the conversation with Pam and encourages her to "apologize" to Babs. Pam then returns and joins the other for a drink after work. Reggie calls Babs and arrives about the same time Pam is talking with Richard. Later Twain glances across the street and sees smoke seemingly coming from the roof of the shop. Later Pam is suspected of setting the fire. After everyone stemming love affairs that night, the gang convene at the shop the next morning to "hear what the Fire Chief has to say."In the concluding pages of "Beauty Shop - Philly Style" Richard offers to provide "the material and time" to help the others rebuild the shop and some money for the effort comes from a potentially surprising source. Throughout the book, mystery, secrets, jealousy, gossip and version of colloquial language meant to create a sense of realism, will keep you on the edge of your seat. Com
