Scientific-Technical Progress and the Revolution in Military Affairs was translated and published under the auspices of the United States Air Force. The original Russian edition was published by the Military Publishing House of the Ministry of Defense in the USSR.

The book is identified as describing the present stage (as of original publication in 1972) in the development of Soviet military theory and practice in relationship to scientific-industrial progress.
