Dr Cyril Bailey (1871-1957) was a British classical scholar and author. He was a Fellow and Tutor at Balliol College, Oxford, and in 1939 became coeditor of the Oxford Latin Dictionary with James McLeod Wyllie (1907-1971). His works include: The Religion of Ancient Rome (1907), Some Greek and Roman Ideas of a Future Life (1915), The Legacy of Rome (1925) (as editor), The Greek Atomists and Epicurus (1928), Phases in the Religion of Ancient Rome (1932), Religion in Virgil (1935), Francis Fortescue Urquhart (1936), Commentary on Lucretius (1947) and Hugh Percy Allen (1948).
