Untying the Knots is the story of a dysfunctional family treading on emotional waters of a painful divorce, told through the eyes of the mother and the youngest daughter. Elizabeth, the mother, is happily unaware of her workaholic husband's philandering until she discovers evidence of his latest affair. In the midst of the ensuing chaos, Elizabeth discovers she is pregnant. Despite her husband's objections, she decides to keep the baby even though her life is collapsing around her. The youngest daughter attempts to heal her anguish through poetry, which is interspersed throughout the book. The oldest daughter turns to physically acting out, sometimes violently. The book deals with all the twists and turns of life as a torn-apart family struggles to heal their rifts and move forward with life.
