Overview - This education session training guide provides counselors and other clinical staff with a scripted plan to use in conducting a hepatitis C education session with clients in behavioral health treatment and their family members. The education session is based on Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 53, Addressing Viral Hepatitis in People With Substance Use Disorders, published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). About TIP 53 - Each TIP involves the development of topic-specific best-practice guidelines for the prevention and treatment of mental and substance use disorders. TIPs draw on the experience and knowledge of clinical, research, and administrative experts of various forms of treatment and prevention.
