I left the world I knew behind which included nice (CLEAN) clothes, make-up and hair done daily and friends at my workplace. I was ready to change and become a businesswoman and barn owner and I thought it was going to be easy!! I even thought it might be glamorous as the barn owner of a large horse boarding facility. WHAT WAS I THINKING!! I really didn't know at the time that there would be days that I was covered in mud, completely exhausted and even feel very lonely in my own barn. Looking back I realize now that I was not ready for it mentally. I was now a businesswoman trying to learn how to run a barn and business and I was a wife, mom, and friend and trying to find a balance in all of it. My life became crazy overnight, I lost my confidence and I lost myself in all of it. Years later I have the privilege of talking with many women all over the country who need encouragement and above all else, they need to know they are not alone and they will get through it.


It is a life we dream of but the career and life change can leave us disenchanted with what we thought our life would be like working with horses and taking care of them daily. This book is for all women who take care of horses in any setting. Life can get messy. We lose our tempers at times and struggle to let go of the hurt we feel when someone questions our knowledge or our abilities. We often have a hard time say no to a client and then regret it later on. And when we start to lose our confidence at what we know and do for the horses in our care, that is when it really can bring us down. I get it because I have been there and I want you to know it can be so much better! When you are trying to do it all and feel tired and beat both mentally and physically this book will encourage you in ways you were not expecting. I love my job now but that is only because I have found myself again and I feel at home and confident as a businesswoman in muddy work boots and worn out jeans.
