Kyle Murphy, just a seemingly average 17 year old boy from New Terman in New Hampshire, America, abruptly has his entire life flipped upside down before he can even graduate high school. After coming of age he is expected to receive great power, but months come and go exceeding the usual time frame with no sign of any form of power, leading to Kyle only feeling self doubt and worry about his very existence, about being a Witness, a supernatural being. Kyle proceeds with the human side of his life, everyday hoping that he won't have to live another day without his power. With each day passing uneventfully, Kyle's hopes diminish. Eventually, Kyle's power manifests, in an event known as The Occurrence, an extremely rare occasion, but the truth behind this event and his power is unexpected and partially unwelcome, and brings a whole lot of trouble in it's wake, for himself, his family, his friends, and New Terman. The Sealgair, an organisation of hunters, catch word of Kyle's existence and begin their journey to his home, only leaving destruction behind them along the way. Kyle's world becomes a battle ground and he does the best he can to hold onto the relationships he has with those closest to him, along with creating some new ones, but manages to find himself creating distance between his best friend Julia and living with the now emotionally vacant Janice and Jane that raised him after his parents died. The arrival of The Sealgair is imminent, along with the destruction they bring, and all that's left to do is fight. Many Witnesses from all over the world gather in New Terman to help in the fight, some with little choice and no where else to go, and others because of their belief in Kyle's true power and identity. Looking to Kyle, a kid, to lead them because of who they believe him to be, these Witnesses put the weight of this war on his shoulders. Kyle was never the violent type, but with the aid of his friends and family, he may just be able to save his people, or lead them all to meet a violent end. After alliances collapse, the betrayal of people close to him, the realization of true intentions, and the loss of loved ones, will Kyle's kind live to see a future for their species?, or fall from this world at the hand of The Sealgair?'
