Egypt takes readers on a journey of what it feels like to be surrounded by children who make her days in school a nightmare. She keeps her fears from her mother for a long time. She then realizes that it's not only children who can be mean. Egypt learns that adults are not always kind and supportive. She is mocked for being bigger than most girls her age. One day, her whole world changes when her mother takes her on a surprise visit to a fashion show. Egypt is excited to find out that she will also have an opportunity to be in the fashion show.
