When Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement Agent McAndrew "Cal" Calumet is called in to investigate the brutal murder of a young woman with a secretive past, he immediately recognizes undeniable similarities to other unsolved murders of young women in Florida, going back years. Aside from the brutal modes of death and the victims' unconventional lifestyles, the only obvious connection between the murdered women is an ultra-exclusive ocean-side social club called Gold Horizon. Calumet's inquires are frustrated by the dearth of available information about Gold Horizon and the surprising revelation that its membership is kept secret from outsiders, including the authorities. As his investigation progresses, Cal's formidable skills are challenged by Gold Horizon's ability to thwart him at every turn by virtue of the influence it buys with the untold wealth of its membership. Then, when witnesses and suspects reportedly commit suicide or die under questionable circumstances, he becomes more determined than ever to see beyond the wall of privilege around Gold Horizon, despite the fact that his chain of command has forbidden him to continue with his line of inquiry. Cal becomes increasingly convinced that the club's officials are behind the deaths and that their privileged status hides a connection to an international effort to control not only people's lives but the boundaries of death itself. Inexplicable forensic findings leave little doubt that the answer to Cal's questions will be found in the deepest recesses of the Gold Horizon building where even the members have limited access. His own life is threatened as he pushes ever closer to uncovering the incredible and deadly secret behind the club's nearly impenetrable wall of privilege, a quest that redefines the limits of power and the extremes to which those who have it will go to protect it. For Calumet, reality no longer has the same meaning as he faces a future being crafted by people for whom life is a marketable asset. Ultimately, what Cal risks is more than his career; as he slowly pierces the wall surrounding Gold Horizon's hidden agenda he stands to lose everything that is dear to him. The question becomes, is it enough to deter him from his crusade for justice?
