Ethical diplomacy is the conduct of diplomatic relations according to universally accepted standards of right and wrong. When diplomats must work for government leadership for whom truth is a seldom-regarded moral standard, and who disparage and disrespect them, is it possible for them to remain in their jobs and maintain integrity and ethical conduct? The author, a veteran of 30 years as a diplomat, and 20 years before that in the U. S. Army, looks at this thorny issue.
