Middle school and older elementary readers love laughing with Gabby and can relate to her sincerity as she tries to manage common problems, including: children's school issues, complicated relationships with her parents, and children's self-esteem struggles, all the while doing her best to do the right thing. As a strategy for navigating her average life, Gabby researches strange news stories and compiles them in a scrapbook. While searching for a way to keep her mom from getting fired, and formulating a plan to get the nasty Lydia League to abandon all efforts to humiliate her, Gabby discovers that sometimes even her own world can get a little strange.
