The antique "motor hotel" had more guests than usual the day the EMP knocked out the power grid. Unexpected road closures brought an assortment of travelers together right before civilization suffered a hard reset. Perhaps Lady Luck was also involved, because two doomsday preppers were among the 25 men, women, and children re-routed up to the lonely old motel on the forested mountainside. Cliff, the kindhearted old proprietor, is happy to give his diverse guests a place to stay and share what food he has. Luke, the red-pilled survivalist, takes over the defense and administration of this makeshift colony; but his leadership style strikes the others as brutal, and his manners barbaric. Adnan is accustomed to being in charge, and not excited about being under the authority of degenerate westerners. Luisa has been on the run from her drug lord husband, struggling to raise a son by herself; and might just find these new Dark Ages preferable to the life she escaped. Jessica wears the pants in her marriage; and will not suffer silently while trapped in this dysfunctional polyglot of sluts, MAGA pariahs, and macho pigs. Kita was off to a promising start up her career ladder; but it's difficult to remain empowered in a world where her ethnic studies degree can't put food on the table or maintain indoor plumbing. Existential crises bring out the best, and worst, in human beings. These unlikely colonists must now unify to overcome desperate marauders, savage beasts...and their own extravagant sensibilities, deeply implanted by a depraved culture that no longer exists.
