Her long, thin fingers wove in and out of a strap dangling from the backpack she had swung over her shoulder. Was she nervous? Had he made her nervous? Devin drew closer to her. He moved on instinct, bridging the distance between them.

His midnight fantasies played through his mind unbidden.

"Couldn't stay away?"

She tilted her face to look at him. The long stretch of her creamy throat tempted him. He watched the thrum of her pulse quicken under her skin. Damn it, a man could only deny himself for so long. He needed to taste her.

"Did you long to see me, Claire?"

"I went for a bike ride." Her words were barely audible. Her gaze rested on his mouth. She leaned toward him, just a little. The silky whisper of her breath teased his lips. "I thought I'd stop by and say thank you for driving me into the city the other day." She moistened her sweet lips.

The control he'd been reining in for weeks now broke. He crossed the gap between them and grabbed her.

Her surprised, feminine gasp only fueled the fervor exploding through him. He forced her tight against his body. Her delicate, warm curves crushed against him. He looked into her eyes. The whites of her eyes framed her irises, but she didn't protest. Her mouth opened in a small "o" and that was invitation enough.
