VENUS RISING FROM THE SEA is a collection of 30 poems about the world's oceans and seas, many that the author has visited and reveled in on coastal shores of the southeastern United States. From countless pilgrimages to resorts and islands in her native Georgia to ports-of-call as far distant as Singapore on the Indian Ocean-on a once-in-a-lifetime around-the-world cruise with her Navy veteran husband in 1999, she has remained awed and enamored of "God's gathering together of the waters." In these elegiac poems she takes us with her on her epic voyages, paying tribute to the residing creatures of land, sea and sky in their natural, too often threatened habitats.
