For years I investigated autism, analyzing every article that discussed the subject in the hope of understanding what was hidden behind the complex, compromised, and yet deeply joyful personality of my autistic brother. What could I do to help him? I spent years trying to grasp the sense of it, embarking on spiritual journeys and various types of therapy until I eventually understood that it was not my brother who did not exist, but rather myself. During this voyage of self-discovery and awareness, where the scientiï¬c and spiritual worlds intersect, I have encountered extraordinary people worthy of endless respect. A single phrase has touched my heart and my life more than anything else, comforting me and contributing to my survival: "Autistic children are angels fallen from the sky who don't want to come down to earth." With this book, I want to show how great pain can be transformed into light and joy for life. Autism is not a curse. If we shift our perspective and ï¬nd a higher point of view, we may yet realize that these angels have come to teach us something. Today I am certain that my brother has been my greatest teacher and hero, and I am proud that he chose me to be his sister.
