An Iowa Mother...an American Son Vincent W. Carroll

"An Iowa Mother... An American Son" boldly goes where no mother and son has before with this powerful work whose roots sprout from the Iowa soil. Images of 'middle west' folkways and urban exposure pose together for this unusual family portrait of life and poetry. "A Biblical Epic," (final major poem of the work)... the Bible in one sentence...poetically plainspoken, reprimands a "history of verbosity" that has dispatched readers rather than attracted them. "A Biblical Epic" transmutes the reader, as well as old paradigms...thereby creating an entirely new spiritual offertory.
