The author has experienced difficult challenges, but also fantastic blessings. She began writing these devotionals during days of a confining illness. She began a prayer practice of while lying prostrate on the floor with the Bible at her side and a notebook within reach. Many of these devotionals are a result.

Dr. Judith Rolfs also studied prayer extensively when her oldest son had advanced cancer and was hit by a drunk driver while jogging, three months into his treatment. She pored over the Gospels to see the methods Jesus used in healing and prayed to draw closer to Him.

Throughout the next year, she saw Jesus work mini and major miracles as He graciously healed her son. The author says, "I know Jesus' presence and power are real. Trusting Him with all the whatevers of life ever since has brought me the deepest joy I've ever known."
