Love, let me count the ways, so says the poet. Sweet, sugar coated words that invade the heart. They quicken the pulse, and add blush to the cheek. Their love inspiring such passionate emotions, that their imagination lifts them higher and higher into the nether realms. And Death... Such bittersweet thoughts that momentarily hold us in tow, it reddens and swells the eye with tears and grief, while clutching at the heart with talons of guilt. Death is all around us. It is a constant part of the living universe. We are confronted by it daily. It lies at the very edge of our senses, a constant reminder of our own mortality. We all are faced with the prospect of an end to something or someone we love and cherish. And Lighter Things... While love and death may provoke a strong emotion from each of us, it is levity that revitalizes the soul. Love helps us to see the beauty in the world, while mirth helps us to appreciate it.
