The world sends out a clear and pervasive message - strive, do well, don't fail. A performance based culture with its attendant fears and insecurities can distort our view God and sabotage our relationship with Him, ourselves and others. With at times excruciating levels of honesty and vulnerability, Peter McHugh exposes the lies that had taken hold in his own life. As he puts it:

Peter is a university graduate with a qualification in Social Work. He was dramatically converted in 1982 at the age of 25. He along with his wife Lyn and 12 other people moved to Melbourne from Sydney to plant a church in 1990. Today Stairway Chruch Whitehorse (formerly Christian City Church Whitehorse) has a congregation in excess of 1200. Peter and Lyn have two married daughters, a son and a grandson.
