To Take a Wife (To Have Not to Hold)
Sj Hills
Based on The Country Wife, renowned as the smuttiest play ever written, banned from print for 200 years and considered too outrageous to be performed
Mr Horner, a bachelor and a lady's man, in order to up the quality of his conquests and gain access to society households, concocts a rumour that an accident has robbed him of his manhood. An unproven and somewhat unorthodox ploy to satisfy his carnal desires
Mr Pinchwife, a notorious womaniser in his younger days, has taken a young, innocent country wife as he can't keep a whore in town
Can Mr Horner corrupt and bed the young impressionable country wife despite her husband's constant vigil, and can he persuade the society ladies of London, whose reputations must be upheld at all costs, to succumb to his attentions?
Witty dialogue, innuendo, society one-upmanship, and copious helpings of bawdiness
