Beyond Self: the Imitation of Christ (Ancient Faith) Jason Rowinski

Thomas a Kempis was not an extraordinarily gifted person. He was born Thomas Hammerken, entered a monastery at the age of 19, and remained there until his death in 1471. He devoted his time to praying, studying, teaching, and hearing the confessions of people who came to the monastery. Out of his love and desire to know Christ came the classic devotional book, The Imitation of Christ. This mediation on spiritual life has become one of the most loved and trusted books in Christian literature. Taking the concepts of this spiritual classic, Beyond Self is an updated, modernized version of Books 1 and 2 of The Imitation of Christ. This book will guide you through the inspirational thoughts of Kempis, challenging you to live a life that mirrors Christ.
