I was falling.

Terror tore through coherent thought as the windows of Where Enterprises flashed by faster and faster as my fall gained momentum.

I couldn't freeze. I couldn't fight... I could not fly.

So instead, I screamed. I screamed in a blinding fury that consumed the terror and replaced it with rage.
It was better this way.

Claire Menzies is out to rule the world. She is a mundane with a scholarship at the most prestigious university in the country, an ex girlfriend in her review mirror, and the world at her fingertips. When Claire tied on her apron for another boring cafe shift, she didn't expect for her life to be irrevocably altered.

Xavier Ignavus is the arrogant Prince of the were owls, dodging an arranged marriage and moonlighting in detective work. When he chose this city to establish his rule, he never expected to find his mate. He never expected her to be a mundane. He never dreamed it would cost her life.

When these star crossed lovers meet, Claire's life is thrown into the chaotic world of shape shifters, with a tragic twist; If she is to survive, Xavier must earn her trust, and then do the unthinkable.

But Xavier has a dark secret that prevents the Prince from trusting his instincts, and Claire has never learned how to surrender trust to anyone.
