The literal invasion and the intrusion into a small country town can be very traumatic at any time. Such was the case when the London kids descended into St. Ives in 1939 followed by the American forces in 1941 who took over the nearby airfield of Wyton. The author recalls from 65 years later, some of the highlights of such an experience at the beginning of World War II in England.
