Song of Madeleine: a Crusader's Chronicle
Mary Bolton
Determined to accompany her husband, King Louis of France on the Second Crusade, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine defied the objections of the highest chuchmen. She gathered a select group of women from her sparkling court to join her. In high spirits, her courageous entourage set off from Paris to join the fight against the Saracens. The two year endurance test that ensued is chronicled by her kinswoman, Madeleine of Gascony. It is through her eyes the reader shares in the romance, adventure, treachery and spiritual visison that the women experience as they discover the mysterious and dangerous realms of the ancient and embattled Holy Land.
