Cigarettes Around the Room
Cadan Henry
Though he tries Joss just can?t find acceptance into this new blended family living in the same small house he and his father used to occupy by themselves. The new family is fighting constantly and many threats are made on both sides. There seems to be no release from the high emotional climate as Joss is identified as an irritant and inconvenience that must be subdued. When it seems none of them can take any more Joss graduates high school and leaves the house. In the first few months the only new activity he seems to embrace is drinking. He begins to numb himself of all that has happened but also knows that running away is dangerous the way he?s doing it. Though the beginnings of addiction have taken hold he starts to change into the young man he wants to be. He meets someone very similar to himself possibly even more lost but who accepts him right away and assures him everything is going to be alright. They begin to find some direction together as they become each other?s witness and accomplice in a world all their own as the question "Who am I?" begins to get answered.
