This volume contains the previously unpublished manuscripts of the lectures Philosophy of History and Social Pedagogy which the theologian and philosopher Paul Tillich delivered at the University of Frankfurt am Main in the Winter Semester 1929/30 in his capacity as Professor of Philosophy and Sociology, together with a record of the lecture Philosophy of History. In both lectures, Tillich develops a philosophy of encounter. With this, he reveals a new relationship of time and history, and also of the I-Thou relationship and of education.
