Jasim is from Syria. He fled the war there, moving his way across Europe and finally settling in the UK. Behind him he left a trail of bodies, all killed with a knife. His modus operandi is a straight cut across the throat from behind. HIs choice of weapon is a Bowie knife. Lilia is also from Syria. She left the country years ago with her first husband, but returned on a mission for the British government that went badly wrong. She was caught, imprisoned and beaten. Jack saved Lilia from the prison and married her. He is an ex-soldier, but still operates as a military advisor, assisting in 'think tanks'. Lilia belongs to a group called 'Speakers for Syria', a team of mainly women promoting the plight of the country and the need for change. She is one of their keynote speakers, representing the group at conferences and exhibitions all over Europe and occasionally further afield. Jasim thinks Lilia belittles the Syrian situation, and generally does not enjoy hearing anyone criticising the country. Most make it sound like a simple problem to fix. Jasim kills to live, leaving a trail of bodies on his journey through the UK. Lilia is the next life he wants to take. Who can stop him?
