"So may the New Year be a happy one to you, happy to many more whose happiness depends on you!" The second of Charles Dickens' Christmas books. On New Year's Eve, Trotty, a poor messenger becomes despondent about the news of wickedness and evil in the world. Despite offering such actos of charity as he can, seeing cruelty and inequality in the world, Trotty begins to despair. Soon he faces a trip to a church tower which will show him the true meaning of despair... Like its predecessor, A Christmas Carol, this second Christmas book pushed Dickens' moral message of righting wrongs.
