Measure the lengths of AB, BC, and AC in the following figure, separately. A dd the measured lengths of AB and of BC, and see how nearly the sum comes to AC. Measure these same distances, and note the errors in your estimates. Enter all these numbers in a neatly drawn table. 4. Draw a straight line, and mark on it two points A and Bwhich are i| inches apart. Then mark a third point Cso that BC =i inches. Measure AC. Compare the length of AB +the length of BC with the length of AC. 5. Draw a straight line and mark on it four points A, B, C, D, in that order, and so that AB =i| in., BC =in., CD =i| in. Measure AD and compare it with AB +BC +CD. 6. Draw a straight line, and mark on it five points A, B, C, D, E, one inch apart. Measure the lengths AB, AC, AD, AE, on your centimeter scale. Enter the results in a table similar to the following one. The last column is to be filled out by dividing the number of centimeters in each of the lengths measured by the number of inches in it. Do your results agree precisely ?7. Draw a straight line and mark several points on it one centimeter apart. Measure the distances from the first point to each of the others in inches. Make a table similar to that of Ex. 6, with the headings in the order: centimeters, inches, inches in I centimeter. 8. Measure the width and length of your desk in feet and inches; reduce the results to inches. Measure the same distances in centimeters. Make a table similar to that of Ex. 6for these measurements.
